Data Innovations (DI) today announces the release of version 8.12.10 of Instrument Manager.

With this release come several changes that continue to enhance Instrument Manager (IM) and continue providing the world’s leading middleware solutions.

Within the Specimen Management Workspace we have added functionality for confirmatory testing protocols that require two-person review and release. PDF reports generated by instruments can now be received and displayed along with all the patient, sample, and test information. To improve communication and provide more detailed documentation, dedicated intra-lab comment fields for specimens and tests have been added.

For users accessing Instrument Manager across a network, v8.12.10 supports a new method by accessing IM via web browser using Microsoft’s® Remote Desktop Web Access with Windows Server® 2008 R2.

The interface translation tables (mapping) can be managed by third-party applications such as Microsoft® Excel and imported or exported from external files expediting the setup and implementation of new systems.

IM’s ability for building, storing and executing rules test cases for regression testing has been expanded to allow importing and exporting of these cases for easier deployment across systems.

Monitoring hot-backup systems has been added to the primary status screen to ensure your redundant systems are synchronized and working properly. Notifier, Instrument Manager’s notification service, has been expanded to alert users in the event of issues associated with your hot-back systems.

Sample Storage and Retrieval (SSR) has been enhanced to send update messages to your LIS and/or automation system when logging specimens out or when disposing of samples. If your automation system provides images of samples, SSR can now store those images to help determine the quality and volume of a sample saving time and money for add-on testing procedures.

This enhanced Instrument Manager solution enables our customers to increase efficiency and productivity.

“The addition of these enhancements allows us to continue offering our customers the best middleware product in the clinical laboratory,” said Mike Epplen, CEO, Data Innovations. “We will continue to invest and develop our products which will allow us to positively impact patient care.”
